Why Therapy

Why Therapy?

puzzel-icon

I’ve been struggling for as long as I can remember.

We sometimes “get stuck” early on because of what happens to us or what gets missed growing up. Maybe there are things you have never really dealt with that continue to impact you. Hope fluctuates or may be nearly lost.

I can help you get a clearer picture of what’s going on, find hope, learn ways to manage symptoms, lessen the impact of the past, handle life more effectively, and face rather than avoid.

I was doing okay in life until (…) happened.

It’s hard to ask for help when you’ve been able to manage so well in the past. We all fall, sometimes hard, and it’s easy to lose our way in the face of stressors that build up over time or hard-hitting major life changes. Sometimes we need a hand up, a boost, and new ideas.

I can help you adapt, build on what used to work for you, add some new coping tools, cultivate your resilience and strengths, get some balance and confidence back, and find meaning in your experience.

I have a good life; so why can’t I enjoy it?

What a confusing state. You’ve worked so hard to create a decent life for yourself but something’s getting in the way of being fully and vitally in it. You might be feeling overwhelmed or maybe disconnected, “blah”, as if “going through the motions” of life.

I can help you understand what’s getting in the way, figure out what you really value and find rewarding, and get more connected to yourself, the people in your life, and the world around you.

The difficulties you meet will resolve themselves as you advance. Proceed, and light will dawn, and shine with increasing clearness on your path.
